چکیده
We propose a novel on-surface radiation condition to approximate the outgoing solution Helmholtz equation in exterior of several impenetrable convex obstacles. Based on local approximation Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator and formula for wave propagation, this new formulation simultaneously accounts behavior as well reflections arising from multiple The method involves tangential derivatives only, avoiding use integration over surfaces As consequence, leads sparse matrices O(N) complexity. Numerical results are presented illustrate performance limitations proposed formulation. Possible improvements extensions also discussed.

Scattering of Surface Waves
In this chapter the theory of scattering of elastic surface waves is described. Since surface waves are guided along the surface of materials, the scattering properties of surface waves are useful for probing the heterogeneity of the material near the surface as well as perturbations of the free surface. This has applications in the detection of surface defects (Steg and Klemens, 1974) and in s...
متن کاملA High Frequency Bem for Scattering by Non-convex Obstacles
Traditional numerical methods for time-harmonic acoustic scattering problems become prohibitively expensive in the high-frequency regime where the scatterer is large compared to the wavelength of the incident wave. In this paper we propose and analyse a hybrid boundary element method (BEM) for a class of non-convex polygonal scatterers. In this method the approximation space is enriched with os...
متن کاملMultiple scattering attenuation and anisotropy of ultrasonic surface waves
Multiple scattering of waves induces bulk effects such as attenuation and anisotropy that are important in seismology, optics, medical imaging, and other fields involving propagation in disordered media. We report here measurements of ultrasonic surface wave propagation in a strong-scattering, quasiperiodic medium consisting of a grooved surface of aluminum. Using noncontacting optical methods ...
متن کاملSimulating transient scattering from obstacles with frequency-dependent surface impedance
This paper presents an algorithm which couples the time domain Boundary Element Method (BEM) with a digital filter surface model. This aims to achieve the same for transient sounds as is possible for time-harmonic excitation using surface impedance and the frequency domain BEM. Accurate representation of surface properties is crucial in obtaining realistic simulations, and the obstacles and bou...
متن کاملIdentifying Scattering Obstacles by the Construction of Nonscattering Waves
There are many methods for identifying the shape and location of scatterers from far field data. We take the view that the connections between algorithms are more illuminating than their differences, particularly with regard to the Linear Sampling Method [7], the Point Source Method [26] and the MUSIC algorithm [11]. Using the first two techniques we show that, for a scatterer with Dirichlet bo...
